Opificio Birrario s.s. “Noctua”
,33l brown glass bottle, “Da consumarsi preferibilimente entro: 09/20 Lotto 120919”
€3,50 at the brewery on 30 November 2019
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is not filtered, and refermented in the bottle for a natural carbonation. It’s A hazy amber in color despite being labeled as a “Golden ale”. When held to the light it displays orange highlights beneath a short lid of off-white foam. The head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is sweet with malt, wild flowers, and orchard fruit. The flavor follows, and although it’s sweetish a stiff bitterness centers it, and then directs it towards a mostly dry finish with some lightly herbal hops emerging, some delicate mineral-like qualities, and then red apple lingering. In the mouth it’s medium bodied, supple, and smooth with a very fine-bubbled moderate carbonation. That explains the lack of head retention, and its probably a fair trade-off to gain the superior mouthfeel. In the end it’s quite charming and highly drinkable with a bright, full character despite it being a beer of only 5%. Worth trying.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
