From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This solid little brew pours a clear
pale golden with a modest head of white foam that settles to a thick ring
and subtle layer with light lacing. Nose of grassy hops, breaded malts,
and honey sweet malts. Flavors follow the nose with honey sweet malts,
subtle caramel, biscuit, and light grassy hops. Mouth feel is medium light,
medium light carbonation, smooth, and finishing moderately clean with a
nicely balanced finish.
Overall, solid.
Cheers

Pours a golden color with a small foamy white head. Aroma is German lager, (malt & yeast). Taste is mild yeast, malt, & slight lemon citrus. Really good German Helles. BB 8-2025

For me, this was an exceptional helle...
a
Looks meet the style standard but the smell was delicious - malty sweetness with light hops and a very smooth and very crisp mouthfeel. That malty sweetness translated well to the tongue making this one of the better if not best helles i have had to date.

Poured from an aluminum can, stored in a refrigerator at 38 degrees. The ale/beer was poured into an insulated pint glass. The beer was allowed to warm a bit before tasting it.
Appearance: Pale Golden, clear, bubbly head. Small carbonation bubbles
Aroma: Clean & Innoffensive. Bright floral hops with a lemon twang, lush green grass, sweet biscuity malt. Nothing fancy, just a nice, clean Lager smell.
Taste: Follows the nose. Bright, slightly bitter grassy florally hops with a sweet malt body. Slightly creaminess provides a nice smoothness to the beer. It's simple, clean, smooth, and refreshing.
Feel: A nice smooth body, medium mouthfeel, a slight carbonation prickle.
Overall: Very refreshing. Would buy again. Smooth, highly drinkable but simple.

Name: Lagerbier Helles

My continuation of the twelve pack has led me here, a Helles.
I used my old Michelob glass for this review and served the beer at 42 degrees. The pour resulted in a frothy, airy, two-fingered, white head with average retention, leaving no lacing on the glass. The beer's color is light straw with a pale golden yellow charting at SRM4 and is translucent. The appearance of the beer is average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell floral blossoms, light white pepper, soft toasted malts, crackers, and honey-like sweetness. The aromas are mild, and I do not notice much else aroma-wise.
The flavors are more pronounced, with notes of spicy floral, white pepper, and light herbal. The malt profile has more character, too, with notes of biscuits, crackers, and lightly toasted bread. A slight mineral and phenol(cloves) finish on the end of the flavors.
The body is light and has high carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and finishes dry.
I am still learning the Helles style. From what I am tasting and learning from several resources, this beer adequately suits this style, with no off flavors and clean lagering. The only issue I have is that it needs to be fresh. That is something that I can only fix if I hop on a plane to Germany.

Pours clear, pale gold in color with two inch head. Taste is cereal, mineral and pilsner malt. Light bodied, moderate high carbonation, slightly bitter. An average, clean German lager. Not bad but nothing memorable.

12 Days of Christmas #8
Beer number 8 from Aldi Australia's 2023 Christmas Beer pack, courtesy of Kalea. I'm not doing these beers in order.
Vessel: 500ml Pint can, cream and blue design label. Best before March 2025.
Appearance: Classic Euro Lager appearance, Pale Golden, no haze, bright white bubbly head. Looks as refreshing like a Euro Lager/Pilsner/Helles beer should. Small carbonation bubbles lazily drifting to the top of the beer.
Aroma: Clean & Innoffensive. Bright floral hops with a lemon twang, lush green grass, sweet biscuity malt. Nothing fancy, just a nice, clean Lager smell.
Taste: Follows the nose. Bright, slightly bitter grassy florally hops with a sweet malt body. Slightly creaminess provides a nice smoothness to the beer. It's simple, clean, smooth, and refreshing.
Feel: A nice smooth body, medium mouthfeel, a slight carbonation prickle.
Overall: it's everything I enjoy about these styles of beer. Their simple characteristics make for a delicious and thirst qunchingly refreshing beer. It's smooth, highly drinkable but simple.
