Malted barley is a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We use three different varieties to create the deep colour and smooth nuttiness; each grain is milled right here in our brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness. Then we balance this rich brew with just the right amount of Challenger and Fugle hops

We stayed in a small town in northern Isle of Skye that had one pub. They had plenty of the Isle of Skye beers on tap and loved this malty, red ale. I'm from the states and couldn't find one similar so trying to replicate. Delicious red ale.

This is one of the best beers I have consumed anywhere in the world. Visited the brewery wile visiting Isle of Skye in Scotland. This brew is unique in taste....not an IPA. great mouth feel and excellent taste. Nothing like Irish reds or American ruby reds. Veery hard to find. I had all 4 of the brews while on Skye. Available at some spots near Skye. Not sure if available in USA. expensive but worth it.

April 2009: 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (bought at Vaaland, Bryne). ABV is 4.2%. Amber coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, English malt vinegar, fruits and silage. The flavour is malty but also very fruity, hints of berries and malt vinegar, "dusty" hops in the finish. Not really brilliant.

Cask. Uig hotel. Lackinh
a bit of condition.
Pours a glorious dark ruby red, crystal clear. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste is toffee, touch of roast, some fruityness. Bitterness is there. A good Scottish ale
