Skye Otter Ale
Poured a rich medium dark ruby brown, small soapy head with a good amount of sticky lacing, some whispy film lingers on. 3.75
S – has a pleasant balanced fruity maltiness, appley and grapefruit hops come forward, with light florals, sweet toffee and caramel malt also. Rich and delicate, on the sweet side but with some nutty/earthy notes as well. 4.25
T –caramel malt, with pear fruitiness, grapefruit hops, slight nuttiness, butterscotch, then drying oats and earthy bitterness, nice hops presence throughout, and then dry and malty on the finish, leaving a lingering malty feel and a bit of lemony hops. Some of the florals come through but the bitterness and sweetness are both restrained. Pretty much balanced throughout. 3.75
M – pleasant and light, predominantly malty feel to the body, little carbonation, but a good crispness, mild and refreshing, with a good rounded taste. 3.75
O – A tasty, flavourful ale, going toward a good cause too, falls slightly short of their regular offerings overall. A crisp and fruity bitter ale, with a strong malt backbone, the hops don’t really pop though and the complexity isn’t really there. I enjoyed this though, a nice mix of fruity hops and caramel malts and some nice earthy character. 3.5
