From a 16oz can, undated (sigh) - IG suggests it may have been on or about 02/09/23. Served in a spiegelau IPA glass.
Pours a milky-pale lemony-orange with two fingers of soapy suds. Retention is excellent, leaving a thick, foamy cap and a thin, tattered curtain of sudsy lacing.
Nose is citrusy, juicy and sweet. Aroma of sweet orange and lime with a touch of vanilla cupcake. Nice.
Taste does a bit of a 180° to the nose being chalky and earthy with a woody, almost cedar or sandalwood character. Tasting clementine, orange peel, cedar and lime. Resinous with moderately high pine needle-and-grapefruit-type bitterness.
Feel is juicy and relatively light bodied with bright, zesty carbonation. Hop oily tingles.
Overall, very nice and, in fact, outstanding by West L.A. norms. Flavorful, satisfyingly bitter, easy drinking and refreshing and yet, at 7%, not a lightweight. Kudos. The fact that there’s no canning date continues to sadden me but it isn’t like I haven’t said anything.
