Picked this up just before West LA closed for good... just noticed that it was a year ago today that I bought it! Digging in on a lazy Sunday afternoon....
Pours like crude oil - dense, thick and dark as night in mid-winter. Head is thin and fine, tan in color, with light lacing left behind. Aroma has dark choco, licorice, vanilla and some subtle bourbon notes. Body ids medium to medium-plus, and the feel is quite smooth on the tongue.
Taste is solid, with some lightly sweet dark choco leading off. Has some mild vanilla, cocoa powder, licorice and molasses also in the mix. Finishes with some earthy, lightly floral hopping mixing with intimations of bourbon. Solid, all-in-all. Cheers!
