Introducing Piccola, a Dark Mild ale made in the English tradition of packing a lot of flavour into a very small beer. Piccola is satisfying and endlessly drinkable thanks to its reasonably low abv, dry finish, characterful malt presence and hint of East Kent Golding hops.

I am going to start to wade through my beer fridge. I have several beers that need to be consumed. I do not have much experience drinking a dark mild. I did some reading over what the style guidelines are. Using a pint glass, I served the beer at around 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy two-fingered head with average retention. The light tan head dissipated slowly, leaving bits of lacing on the glass—the color charts around SRM 24 dark ruby with mahogany hues. The beer looks significant no issues with the appearance.
Toasty malty aromas with caramel and bread crust. The hops are perceivable but not pungent. The hops are floral, woody, and earthy. The nose on the beer is light; it took me a few times to detect what was in the glass.
Mild hop flavor with a firm malty backbone. The malts are chocolate, toasted bread, caramel, cereal grains, and a hint of char. The hops are woody, herbal, and slightly floral.
The mouthfeel is thin, finishing light. The body is medium-light, and the carbonation is low.
A perfect beer for a summer night under the patio with brisket dinner. I could consume several of these and not feel guilty. I enjoy the low hops with a malty backbone. Tasty beer! I am happy I got to try it.
