Well, the bar at Liberal Cup ain't the most brightly lit, but this is one of your more amber-leading to-dark caramel IPA's with a healthy head.
The popping bubbles revealed an acceptable citrus-to-sour aroma atop a solid, on-the-chewy-side take on the style. Plenty of malts for balance and plenty of alcohol (Liberal Cup pours of all other beers are in 20 oz., this comes in the 16) make for a bigger beer than many other IPA's in Maine.
Liberal Cup beers were originally a bit tetchy for quality; I took this ale's quaffability as another sign that they're in the right place today.
