This is a standard Trippel. Its a tad syrupy, with a sweet afternote. Cant say it stands out.

 

 

 

A: medium yellow in color, with a white head.

S: lemony and citrus with spice notes.

T: Belgian that flavor up front, oddly bitter up front, but then a long very sweetness.

M: medium body, somewhat lower carbonation.

O: this isn't hitting for me not style, and not taste.

 

12 oz can from State Line. Pale golden body, cloudy small fizzy head. Bready, yeasty aroma. Taste is mostly Belgian yeast, some sweet malt, light savory notes.

From the bottom of the can: "CANNED ON 09/20/21"

Appearance: The body is a golden-orange color with a hint of beige. It is a completely opaque beer. The head is medium to medium-large in size, white, and has a very frothy foam consistency. It slowly fades out to a short cap in the glass. There are some wisps of foam on the glass.

Aroma: It has a pleasant and obvious Belgian yeast aroma with light notes of bubblegum, some banana, and an almost cotton candy like scent. There is also an alcohol aroma which is sometimes present.

Taste: Up front there is a bit of an herbal note which quickly folds into this light caramel flavor mixed with a touch of biscuit. The middle of the mouth has a touch of banana mixed with some tea leaves. A bit of bay leaf comes through after a few sips. The biscuit note that appeared up front on the palate also follows on to the middle of the tongue. The finish has a bit of cedar wood flavor that comes off as a little bitter.

Mouthfeel: It feels medium-light bodied and smooth with a touch of slickness. Slightly sticky finish. The beer has a noticeable bitterness which comes across as herbal and seems to cut too much into the beer. It drinks well.

Overall: It's a nice beer with some pleasant Belgian yeast notes giving it a slight banana aroma and flavor which is enjoyable. The light biscuit character also gives the beer some nice complexity. The herbal bitterness seemed like it was too much for the beer but the other characters were pleasant enough. The beer would pair well with something like a pot roast or a hearty beef stew. It wouldn't be something I would pick up regularly but I might buy it again if I was at a restaurant or at the brewery. If you don't mind a more bitter and herbal take on a Belgian Style Tripel it's worth trying a pour or putting in a mix-a-six.

Look: It pours light golden and very clear. It has a white head with moderate head retention.

Smell: There is a funky and yeasty aroma up front. The is some grainy sweetness in the background some very low lemons and a perfumy and floral quality.

Taste: It is quite yeasty with strong spice and lemon up front. It has strong floral notes in support with a bit of grainy sweetness.

Feel: It has a medium body with a dry finish and a touch of sweetness present.

Overall, there are strong yeast elements in the aroma and taste with strong spice in the taste.

 

Clear gold appearance with a small white head and sparse lacing. Yeasty aroma, some honey, some spices, and an off note of rubbing alcohol. Taste is spicy, primarily in a peppery sense, along with the yeast and its accompanying esters. Honey still evident. Bitter, spicy aftertaste. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel that masks the alcohol

Pretty good balance but more hop-forward than expected for a tripel.

 

Murky orange amber body with a finger of white head, slight lacing. Smell is honestly basic tripel elements: banana and pear esters, floral yeast, white pepper, and general mild botanicals, but the definition could be cleaner. Taste basically takes these and cleans them up with a crisp finish, cracker malts and slight citrus zest add some much needed depth. Snappy and bright through out the whole sip, easy drinking yet gives you the tripel experience in an economic way. Thanks Sis!

 

 

12 oz can.

Deep gold color with a fluffy white head. Decent retention. Good clarity, slight haze, with some yeast floaties in the beer.

Banana, lemon, candy and peppery spice aroma. Flavor is heavier on the spice without a lot of complexity. Sweet malt and spicy yeast combo. It's a little thin and undercarbonated. Sweet in the finish with a little heat from the alcohol.

Not the finest Belgian Tripel but a solid attempt. With some refinement this could really be a nice version of the style.

This DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure of mine has morphed into my latest CANQuest (tm) focus! I really had no idea that MaryCANd, especially, was putting out so much beer. 8=O It seems as though every time I feel like I a close, some more beers from that area Pop! up from out of hiding to surprise me. Further, I am back to work so I CANnot keep up the pace that I set during the Christmas/Winter Break. 8=( On top of all of that, even New Beer Sunday is off-limits due to prior CANmitments. 8=( Inna meantime, a shout-out to my local, in-person trader, @tone77 who recently dropped this off for me.

I was kind of anxious to Crack! open the vent on this one since I was at home, missing M night trivia since my partners begged off this week. 8=( I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass & then sat back as it did its thing. It foamed up beautifully to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, snow-white head with excellent retention that looked like a snow drift in my glass! 8=O Color was a gorgeous Golden-Amber with NE-quality clarity, calling forth The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus for a sip. Nose had a spicy mustiness, like old newspapers pulled from the attic, along with pear and light banana esters. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but in the approach. The taste was really fruity, ranging from apples to pears to bananas, with a spicy mustiness that was undoubtedly from the yeast. It also had a fusel alcohol burn in the mouth & on the tongue. Phew! Finish was quite dry & a pleasant interlude this evening. YMMV.
