Picked up for the oncoming weekend at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Hazy opaque golden body and little head. Nose comes alive with citrus and tropical notes as it warms. Hops in the floral and medicinal direction. Body and flavor delivers like a bigger beer, although less so in the finish. More complex and denser than you usually see in this style. Probably not for everybody, but it will definitely have its backers as well.

4 pack for 15 bucks. Whatever. Let's all embrace death.

Pour is quite nice. Hazy dark yellow with a firm and retentive, bone-white head.

Aroma is quite fruity. Nice, but one dimensional.

Flavor's got a bit more going on but still not quite enough to justify the price. Tropical fruits up front, a bit of malt sweetness near the middle, and some light bitterness on the finish against more fruit.

Heavy on the aroma hops, pretty light everywhere else.

Denizens Brewing Co. "Critter"
1 pint can, "CANNED 08/20/21". Sampled on 11/27/21.
$2.79 @ State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD

Notes via stream of consciousness: So what is this, an American pale ale? It appears to be. Brewed with Strata and Azacca hops at 5.1% ABV. It's very hazy, and golden in color. The head is a full sized cap of off-white foam. In the nose you'll find notes of sweet apple, crushed sweet berries, lemon candy, dried pine needles, and earth. The taste follows. It's sweet ish but there's a firm bitterness that anchors it and leads it to a dry, earthy finish with some of those dried pine needles and grass lingering. The fruitiness seems very much the same but it is fuller as well. I'm getting some sweet papaya, orange, mango, and even passion fruit. It's really nicely balanced and rounded, and loaded with flavor. The mouthfeel is pretty standard, as expected, and it's just a great, all-around pale ale that has at least one foot on the fruity NEIPA side of the fence.
