Poured from the bottle into a branded Schlenkerla becker nonic pint glass.
Creamy off white with a real nice fluffy topped head. Flirts with khaki color and a rolling hill like top with no lacing. Pretty good retention on this, sitting on a real nice amber copper orange body. Real nice clarity and visible very fine carbonation. A real impressive looking and aggressive looking for a rauch.
The aroma sticks to the classics. Clean with a nice smokey flavor and less hints of caramel sweetness. Good amounts of wood and campfire like embers in quality, but nothing overkill or anything larger. Not so much emphasis on sweetness or bakery thick malt qualities however, but is definitely in the right ballpark style wise.
Palate continues the goods. Clean finishing, with a bit more mineral and touching of herbal bite in the mid palate. Smokey but not meaty or mealy either but with a faint caramel touch. Finishes quite mineral and even rocky sharp, with a good herbal bitterness as well. Simple bodied but plenty enough to support the flavors on the palate.
This is a nicely dialed in rauch which does come off like the classics but has more of a mineral and bitter quality. It's still quite delicious.
