German-style Doppelbock lagered for a long period. This is a lager of the times. Sassafras, bread crusts, and noble hops with a little grapevine malty quality. Complete and clean.

Poured a dark brown with decent head and lace ring down glass. The aroma has notes of nuttiness and hints of banana. Medium body, slightly nutty, has an herbal dark cocoa taste that makes it easy to drink and this an enjoyable beer with a slightly dry finish.

Appearance: Clear dark brown, frothy mousse-like khaki head with excellent retention.
Aroma: Big malt presence. Baked bread, chocolate, caramel, dark fruit.
Flavor: Follows aroma exactly. Big malt - baked bread, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits. Semi-sweet. Mild alcohol note. Moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied. Semi-dry. Low to moderate carbonation. Moderate length finish. Mildly warming.
Overall: Fantastic Doppelbock style. Reminiscent of Celebrator. Some in the style can leave an overly sweet, heavy impression. Rich, big malt character. Brewer did an excellent job of landing in a dangerously drinkable semi-sweet range. Appropriately carbonated. Highly recommend. A must try if you are lucky enough to be at the brewery when it's available. This is the canned version.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep brown color with an off-white head. Big bubbles topped the glass.
Smell - Dry lager notes led the way, but the sweetness was also noted.
Taste - This beer is everything I want in a doppelbock. At the front, the beer is caramelly, malty, and roasty. There was just the right amount of sweetness from the malts. The darker roasty notes came toward the back.
Mouthfeel - I felt like all of the carbonation came out with the head. While it was light on carbonation the body was sturdy.
Overall - Even though the label was hard to read, this was almost everything I want in a doppelbock.

Superb example of a subtly flavored bock. Lightly hopped, good malt. Delicious. Could drink this all night long.
