Our Bohemian-style pilsner with pronounced malty notes of honey, shortbread, and pilsner waves of grain with hints of spicy noble hops and a malt forward yeast pronunciation. A beautiful texture due to a gentle carbonation – a result of krausening. A clean malty finish with a lingering bitterness. Lagered for a long period.

Appearance: Clear, brilliant gold. Fluffy white head with good retention
Aroma: Herbal and grainy.
Flavor & aftertaste: Grainy and cracker-like malt, spicy/herbal hops. Low sweetness. Low to moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, soft. Medium carbonation. Crisp and clean finish. Bitterness lingers a bit into the finish.
Overall: Absolutely terrific Bohemian Pilsner. Achieves that rare pilsner space where it displays a rich maltiness but with a soft, well rounded bitterness. The bitterness is there but it never reaches harshness, resulting in a refreshing, clean beer with a bitter finish that invites another pint. Pours a beautiful brilliant clear bold with a big frothy white head that will hang around and provide nice lacing. Very well executed beer.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Hot Spot cooler on NC-63 on 4-12-25 for $5.29. No canning date; consumed 5-23-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured a chilled gold with a beautiful billowy white head with great hang time.
Nose is very nice, getting a nice white bread and crackers along with some herbal hops.
Taste follows the nose as the malt base gives a classic white crackers baseline while the hopping on the back end brings a nice touch of peppercorn. Finishes with a nice peppercorn tingle on the back of the palate; 6/10 on my bitterness scale.
Mouthfeel is very refreshing yet very soft with each sip.
Overall, another lovely pale lager from the Halfway Crooks team!

It was tough finding the name of this beer on the new can!!! "Var" was hidden down on the bottom of the can in small letters! Lots of other writing in large fonts "Beer Pivo" "Nefiltrovane" and the name of the Brewing company. In any case, the beer was fairly good, nothing standing out, just another pale lager. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pilsner glass, this beer featured a hazy yellow color, a medium sized head with better than average retention and bands of lacing. The aroma and taste were rather faint. Grainy, mild malt and a bit of lemon. The taste was more pronounced than the nose. Mouthfeel was light and crisp. Refreshing, a bit of flavor but overall not that much to note.

Appearance: Pours a faintly hazed, soft yellow-toned body with a medium-small, snow white head. Light lacing.
Smell: A soft, crustless breadiness backed by a steely-eyed, firm grainy note. Though light, there is a floral tone from the hops lingering there and a worried whisper of honey, though not so much to give any impression of sweetness.
Taste: Lightly bready, lightly crackery with a small blip of honeyish sweetness on the radar. Fresh clean floral hint, ultra-low hint of citrus, light spice. Again, there's that curt grain note always watching, waiting. Sufficiently bitter to balance. Slowly albeit steadily drying with that unyielding graininess lurking in the background.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: Quite tasty!
