Appearance: Slightly hazy deep copper to saddle brown. Pours to a fluffy, khaki head with good retention.
Aroma: Light toast and a little nutty. Clean fermentation.
Flavor & aftertaste: Malty with toasty and nutty flavor. Spicy hops. Moderate to low bitterness. Low to medium sweet.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Soft on the palate. Moderate carbonation. Clean dry finish.
Overall: My first beer from this newer Atlanta brewery that has quickly developed a good rep. This is a Franconian version vs Munich, which means it is a little more bitter than Munich. Pours to nice fluffy khaki color head that shows good retention. Medium bodied, soft on the palate. Malty flavor with toasted bread, some caramel and nutty notes. Seems quite dry start to finish but the added bitterness may be masking sweetness. Either way, leans bitter and herbal. There are a number Dunkels I like better but this one is decent.
