Appearance: Black-bodied with an initial flush of tanned suds. Subsequent pours from the 750ml bottle become more and more turbid, with those final pours getting downright gloopy.
Smell: Dark, roasty-toned malts with some sweet elements of cooked sugars. A bit of dark fruitiness. Upon some warmth, a keen note of rehydrated mushrooms and their reserved savory juices emerges.
Taste: Roasty, toasty with a teeny tiny vein of smokiness. A sweetness akin to dark brown sugar follows. Slight dark fruitiness. There is an accruing earthy, umami, mushroomy accent that begins peeking through as the beer begins to warm and sort of lingers within the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation with a bit of zip about it.
Overall: Interesting brew.
