A: Pours up a cloudy gold with a sudsy, three finger, white head, nice lacing, mild head retention.
S: Subtle hints of citrus sneak out from under the head of this beer as well as some resinous notes. It’s all a quite understated affair.
T: Immediate biscuity malt, a less clean flavor than a typical European Pilsner, not in a bad way, just more bready. There is a sweetness here that leads into a piney bitterness with some residual citrus notes. This beer is definitely pulling from the IPA playbook.
M: Definitely has more body than a typical European Pilsner, but it’s nowhere near excessive. This is still a very crisp and refreshing experience.
O: I like this far more than any other American Craft takes on the Pilsner that I’ve had, and while that’s not saying much this is a very good beer. I struggle with how to talk about this one because I can never think of a time where I would prefer an American Hopped Pilsner over a European one. As is typical for a Halfway Crooks lager, this beer is done about as well as it could be done. This will be someone’s favorite beer, of that I have no doubt. But while I can appreciate it, it is not mine.

Appearance: Pours a nearly clear, soft yellow-toned body with a medium-small, snow white head. Light lacing.

Smell: A soft, crustless breadiness backed by a steely-eyed, firm grainy note. Though light, there is a floral, lightly spiceful, citrusy tone from the hops lingering there and a worried whisper of honey, though not so much to give any impression of sweetness.

Taste: Scantly bready, solidly crackery with a small blip of spice-infused honey sweetness on the radar. Fresh clean floral hint, modest hint of tangy citrus. Again, there's that curt grain note always watching, waiting. Sufficiently bitter to balance. Slowly albeit steadily drying with that unyielding graininess lurking in the background.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Moderate carbonation.

Overall: Again, it's quite tasty and supremely drinkable.
