Toffee Stout...according to the label. Girl with some kind of bird.
Dark, pretty black, fairly smooth white head with quite big bubbles that disappear fast. Mega strong chocolate and toffee aromas. Not unpleasant, however it definitely doesn't have much of an aroma of beer.
Hops and bitterness are just about noticeable. More complex tasting than I was expecting, yet it's still easy drinking. Dark chocolate and toffee dominate. Mouth feel is kind of thin but has some creaminess, similar to cold molten chocolate, if that is possible to imagine. Though it lacks the creaminess of a Guinness or the complexity of a dark Belgian beer such as Wesveletern 12.
It tastes pretty good but is too unlike how I percieve beer to taste, to get a high overall score. For someone who hates beer but likes chocolate however, this would be perfect. Maybe the girl on the bottle is the target market. Still, it's a great effort and I would rather drink this with my treble quarter pounder with added bacon at maccas than a chocolate milkshake for sure.
