A - Cloudy yellow color with a small white head that fades quick.

S - Sweet cereal, citrus hops, mainly lemon, tropical fruit, bready as it warms.

T - Follows the nose with cereal malts, corn, lemon citrus, with some green bitterness on the back end. Wheat is very present with some graininess. Pineapple and star fruit come out as it warms. Finishes crisp and quite dry.

M - Light to medium body with a semi-full feel. Carbonation is medium and the beer finishes nice and dry.

I've always passed this up but I actually enjoyed this. I could drink this all day. Hoppier than I'd expected and the tropical fruit was a nice surprise.

I purchased this at Wegmans, enjoyed chilled in a mug from the 12oz brown bottle.

The color is deep golden with light haze with thick white cap with fine bead -there is good retention and lace. The smell has a slight citrus aroma with subtle lemony tangy scent with light malt and herbal hop ester. The feel is good with light bitterness and slight sweetness balancing with medium carbonation and semi-dry bitter finish.

The flavor is slightly tangy at first with wheat flavor and mild lemon and herbal hops join with an almost pine-like taste toward the finish as it warms with mild wheat taste carrying through in the background. This is a pretty tasty balanced pale with mild citrus hops and wheat flavor.

Appearance: Cloudy, very light straw color, about the same shade as a Bud Light Lime. Quickly disappearing head, moderate lacing and carbonation.

Smell: Pine, wet grass, mildew, citrus hops.

Taste: Pine, wet grass, citrus and floral hops, caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and creamy.

The Verdict: It’s okay. Nothing exciting, just a drinkable Wheat Pale Ale. I expected more coming from Kona- more flavor, more hops, more something.

One of the better American Pale Wheat Ale's I've had. What I like about this offering is the bright citrus and tropical fruits that are abundantly found in the aroma and taste...it seems usually the hops used in this style lean toward a sharper, more bitter hop profile.

Body is lighter and refreshing as you would want from this style..

But it is also loaded with flavor and highly drinkable. Great hops flavors featuring mandarin oranges, tangerines, pineapples, papaya, mango and peaches/nectarines(perhaps the strongest flavor) .

Love this beer. Very well done.

Pours a cloudy straw yellow, with average head. Lovely, attractive lace.

Nose is nicely floral hops. A solid and promising beginning.

Taste is delightful -- hoppy and floral with a tropical fruit bouquet. I get mango, pineapple, and citrus. There's a sharp and grainy wheat presence, too, but it's all carefully balanced and harmonious. A delicious ale!

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: 0.5L (16.9 oz.) mug
From: VONS in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $15.99 (w/ VONS card) for a variety Redhook/Kona/Widmer 12-pack
Purchased: Feb. 21, 2014
Consumed: Feb. 21, 2014
Misc.: Born on date of Dec. 11, 2013

Poured a yellow straw semi-clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of spongy white head. OK layered lacing along the sides. Good retention on the top.

Smelled soapy, pine, mold, wet grass hops, wet Cascade hops, mildew, floral hops, caramel, honey, citrus hops.

Tasted pretty close to the nose. Got lots of different hops in floral, citrus and grass. Still pretty soapy with some pine in there. Caramel and honey as well. Did I mention soap? Didn’t tasted anywhere close to 6.0 percent.

Light body. Creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Abrupt watery finish.

This beer was OK at times, but not quite good overall. I won’t have another one after the three I have left.

Got this with the Craft Brew Alliance Explorer variety 12-pack. Pleasantly surprised. Refreshing and tasty, but nothing mind blowing. Really, I've yet to have anything amazing from Kona, but everything I have had has been surprisingly good. Maybe that's just because I don't expect anything crazy, but still. Beer I would easily stock up on to give out if I were hosting a party; especially to share with my non-craft fan friends.
