called andres slam dunkel when we were in, this must be the same beer, and its a unique one, not the kind of thing i expected to find in hawaii, but a well made example of the style, one of their more straight up and true to style beers we had when we visited, great place to hang out by the way, killer patio! light wheaty haze to this, a reddish chestnut color short of brown, fine carbonation when it drinks, simple really, but pleasantly yeast driven, overripe banana meets light spiciness of allspice or even anise, hints of cocoa and toasted nuttiness beneath from the grain, light citrus comes out as it warms, and the nose and taste are about the same, moderate sweetness the whole way but it doesnt limit it, and even though it feels a little autumnal for such a summery place, the execution is pretty good. id like to see this a little more lively and bright on the palate, its not heavy but it doesnt have that airy character the best of these do, but there is a lot of wheat flavor packed in here, and the ferment is right. they had some pretty deep styles on the menu when we were there, which rules, a black ipa, a steam beer, this one, definitely a lot going on in the brew house!
