Had this on tap at the Brewery in Kona. From notes. Served in a tulip
A - Dark brown to black. Decent tan head that dissipated within a few minutes. Lacing was good and uniform.
S - You smell the roastiness of the coffee initially but then instantly get the bourbon, which is very nice. You can pick up some vanilla, chocolate and some hops.
T - Very much like the nose. The bourbon was smooth and was well balanced with the coffee, chocolate and malt roastiness. A distinct nuttiness was also present with minor hints of vanilla and toffee.
M - Medium. A was a bit dry and a touch thin, but still good. Alcohol heat was present but not overwhelming.
D - A good bourbon barrel beer, at times a bit disorganized, but solid nonetheless. I made a point of re-visiting the restaurant on a couple other occasions during my stay just to have more of this beer. Enjoyed this one and was nice to see something 'unique' or 'one-off' when I wasn't expecting anything special. Good work KBC.
