A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

Copenhagen 4/6 2015. 35,5 cl bottle from Rema 1000, Frederikssundsvej, Kbh. NV. Colorful label in Kona's usual design with a catamaran struggling through the waves.
Pours clear yellow with a white head. Stable and fluffy. Settles slowly to a thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is sweet exotic fruit mingling with a perfumed citrus sour scent. A bit lemonadelike.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tiling texture.
Flavor is quite bitter with the fruity lemonadelike sweetness in the background. Long bitter perfumed bitterness in aftertaste. Dry finish.
Nice drink for Hawaiians challenging the waves.

On tap on Kauai Island.
Pours up a nice clear golden, light-amber color.
Medium bodied with a head that dissipated into a ring that leaves weak lacing.
Nose is very hop-floral, the dry hopping is evident.
Flavor is piney with tropical fruit notes, grapefruit dominates, pineapple notes linger in the background.
A very drinkable and enjoyable AIPA.

12oz brown bottle
Kona Castaway IPA has a dark golden/amber body and atop sat a 1-finger whit head that dissipated leaving a collar around the edges of my pint glass and very light lacing. The aroma of grapefruit hops seems to dominate. The taste is very similar to the nose with grapefruit hops stronger and just enough light malt to help balance. Mouth feel is medium and a little crisp Carbonation is to the lighter side.
Overall, a balanced IPA that is not too hoppy.
