Poured from a pint can into a tulip.
Pours a slightly chill-hazed medium gold. The head is limited, but retains decently, and the lacing is excellent.
Mild caramel malt and fruit aromas with a bit of floral earthy hops in the background.
The brew delivers mild caramel malt flavor that quickly slides into clean pale-malt, followed by some tart general fruity notes. The brew closes with some solid but judicious hallmark bitterness--mostly earthy. Restrained, well balanced and old school all of the way.
The mouthfeel is absolutely spot on for the style. Just below medium bodied. Restrained carbonation and cottony dry with a crisp finish. Super drinkable, even in warm weather.
The English Bitter is tough to find, especially out here on the barren prairie. Looks is quickly becoming my favorite local brewer for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is it's willingness to brew a less-popular style like this classic, and do it well besides. And at 10 bucks for four pints of whallop, this is pretty damn good.
