Poured from a pint can into a tulip--full to the brim.
Pours dark as night and opaque. Excellent cola-colored head with limited retention but good lacing.
Aromas of coffee, chocolate, coconut, hazelnut, almond, and straight char. As the brew warms, vague hints of dark fruit and burnt sugars.
Sweet charred malts on the tip of the tongue. Coconut, coffee, cake-batter-sweet chocolate. Hazelnut and toasted barley in midstream, along with molasses and brown sugar. Faint but detectable earthy hop at the finish, shaded with booze that becomes more solvent as the brew comes to temp.
Full bodied, the brew is still decently carbonated. Gets a bit sticky as it warms.
Another solid brew from a local fave. Just a bit too sweet, even for the style, and the booze is a bit raw as it warms. In short, lots of great flavors, but a bit unrefined.
