Deep, rich, and delicious. Pours a dark golden brown. Sweet but not sugary. Sweetness is cut by the clear notes of cereal and whiskey. Malty with a touch of brown sugar and golden raisins. Elevated by the sudsy mouthfeel of the creamy carbonation. Some hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste and a final bit of alcohol burn and a delicious boozy port wine note. But all very elegant, and not just barrel-tasting. Certainly one of the better strong beers in Washington. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Community Co-op in Mount Vernon for a nice price.
