Twisted Roots Brewing

it seems risky to open up a brewery at this location, where pappos and six row before them both couldnt make it work, but its a neat space, and it was a fun place to hang out, so i wish them all the best. ive always liked this little building, the bar area is inviting and cozy, with minimal decor but still good energy, the brewery can be seen in the back from the bar, plenty of seating, a shelf of games to place, standard vibe really. they had a good range of beers on, we tried a couple of lagers and a belgian, none of them bad, but none of them great either, certainly not worth traveling for at this point, but they seem to be learning on the fly, relatively ambitious, and keen to make it work, so all of it felt more new than inferior, i liked their pils the best of the lot. they do some solid looking food in here too, but we had already eaten when we arrived, so hopefully next time we will dabble in that. the service was quite good, the place felt inviting, and i hope they do well here. so much good beer happening in saint louis right now that its hard to stand out, and the beer is not yet at that level, but we had a good time here and would go back again to drink through a bit more of their lineup.
