I had a dearth of AIPA's early in the current (2020) apocalypse but after doing a no contact transaction at the good beer store by my house, I suddenly had several, which of course means they must be consumed quickly, the fresher the better.

This one opens a pretty yellow with uniform cloudiness and very strong head for the style. The aroma is somewhat stanky - smelling like me after a workout. The taste is middle of the road for AIPA - it's over-hopped, as is the norm for the style, but less so than some. There is a "balance" of malt and hops and a crisp aftertaste. It is a little easier drinking than some other big AIPAs.

Notes via stream of consciousness: So what exactly is this? And seriously, the name...? Search it with Urban Dictionary if you're not familiar with the musical recordings of one "Ice Cube". OK, so it's a double IPA at 8% but that's all the label gives you. It pours a very cloudy yellow body beneath an average head of creamy white foam that holds fairly well but then steadily declines. The aroma is resinous and super citrusy. It smells like lemon rind over sweetish bread dough. It's fairly bold, which I appreciate, but kind of one-sided. On to the flavor... ahhhh... that's nice. It's almost like a lemonade flavor. I'm guessing this is 100% Citra hops, or close to it. It's not too bitter, it's citrusy/lemony, and it finishes with just a drip of sweetness that's balanced by a touch of "hop burn", a spritz of alcohol, and median bitterness. It's kind of one-sided but it's a good side! In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp, appearing a little fuller and smoother because of all of the extra proteins. I can certainly live with this beer! It's got a lot of flavor to it, and the alcohol barely shows.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Growlers to To - Short Pump, poured into a pint glass. Had a bright, golden yellow color and very cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A very nice aroma of hops, citrus fruit, malt, melon, and tropical fruit.

T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (mostly in the finish; drowned out by the other ingredients), a hint of tropical fruit (mango, in particular), a bit of melon (kind of fleeting), a good shot of hops (not overdone, though), and a decent amount of citrus fruit (orange). One of the most effervescent, well-balanced DIPAs I've had recently.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An excellent example of a DIPA. Drinkable.
