Collaboration with Triple Crossing

Mutual Respeck is a combination of our two styles of brewing, and an ode to our friendship. This DIPA features Cashmere and Citra hops, and is affectionately dry hopped with the same varietals. Expect notes of tropical fruits, citrus, peaches, and oranges, all riding on an extremely drinkable and unobtrusive base.

10-week-old can poured into a tulip.

Absolutely gorgeous beer. Creamy orange-gold coloring with full, deep haze but somehow no turbidity or murk. Massive head of bright white, eat-it-with-a-spoon, sudsy foam. Fantastic retention and abundant lacing. Basically everything I hope for in a big hazie.

I clearly had this beer too cold initially, as my first impression on the nose and tongue was somewhat nondescript. But with just a little bit of warming this thing came alive beautifully. Very dank and herbal, with a weedy, oniony note that I typically really enjoy if it’s matched well with some strong fruit and floral notes, which this one has in spades. Mango, pineapple, sweet orange, ruby red grapefruit, apricot, peach, and strawberry. It smells on the sweet side, but the herbal greens and solid pine note keep it in check. A little breadlines and candied fruit on top.

Taste follows very closely along, with sweet tropical, citrus, and stone fruits, dank greens, and a nice one-two punch of onion and pine resin to balance out some of the sweetness. Finishes semi-sweet with a little pithy bitterness. The taste profile is probably a hair below that of the aroma profile, but it’s really outstanding. If you like weedy, juicy, and semi-sweet, this is your huckleberry.

Feel is soft and silky but perhaps a touch thin. Plenty of carbonation and coating but no stickiness or alcohol presence.

Fascinating beer.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit, orange rind and toasted caramel. Sweet tropical fruitiness with toasted caramel and a sharp, piney bitterness.

Poured from a 16oz tall can into my BeerAdvocate teku. Canned 5/8/20.

Appearance: super hazy light-yellow hue with two fingers of frothy ivory foam atop. Looks good to me!

Smell: nice tropical-juicy hop aromas right up front; mango and pineapple and perhaps a bit of orange rind. I like it.

Taste: malt base is pretty sweet, and the flavor, while juicy, is maybe not quite as juicy as the smell suggested. It's got a bit of a more herbal, rougher edge to it. It's not bad, in fact I quite like it, but I am wondering if it was not smoother when it was packaged two months ago.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and really a nicely satisfying creaminess.

Overall: I like this beer; it's a bit different than the juice bombs I normally favor, but it's well-executed and super drinkable (especially considering the ABV).

A - Pours a cloudy golden orange with a two finger creamy white head. Tons of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is mango, pineapple and papaya.

T - The taste is orange, mango, papaya, bready malts and light piney hops.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - This is a really solid NEPA. Tons of bright tropical fruits & super easy drinking for 8.2%.

L: Poured from a crowler to a snifter glass. Had a yellowish color and an extremely cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, very long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A sweet and enticing aroma of citrus fruit, hops, tropical fruit, pine and malt.

T: Tasted of a bit of pine (subtle, but definitely present), light malt notes (mostly in the finish; not a huge factor), a good shot of hops (a below average amount - just right for the style), some citrus fruit (orange, in particular), and a good amount of tropical fruit (guava and papaya). This is a sweet, fruity, and lively flavor. Very tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth and creamy finish. Medium-bodied.

O: AN extremely well made NE IPA. Drinkable.
