We teamed up with Other Half to make a silky, viscous pastry stout that was as smooth as a MJ jump shot in his prime. Fade Away combines our luscious chocolate forward malt base with ludicrous amounts of VT maple syrup and roasted coffee. Shoot your shot.

Grabbed a refrigerated 4pk at Ma and Pa’s. Unsure if 3/2022 canning is a prob for such a big abv Imp Stout.
Happily. Poured a thick black base with a huge creamy tan head. Dissipated to a thin halo but extraordinarily nice residual lacing. Full complex nose with chocolate, maple, and dark dried fruit.
Taste mirrored but began with huge sweet chocolate and then evolved into a bit heavy maple then ended on a touch of bitterness. Could be from coffee, but coffee flavor didn’t seem able to raise its head above other bigger flavors.
The body was very smooth but a bit too heavy…even syrupy. It tended to also add some astringency in back of mouth.
Overall a good idea and mostly enjoyable pastry stout. But it was just a bit too heavy in flavors and feel, and flavors seemed separate rather than merging into something with more complexity.
Had to pour a full pint but would probably prefer savoring a smaller pour.

A - Pours a thick black with a one finger creamy tan head. Nice amount of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is maple, coffee and roasted malts.

T - The taste is maple syrup, vanilla, milk chocolate and finishing with a good kick of black coffee.

M - Full body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a slick drying finish.

O - Really solid pastry stout. The flavors are on the sweet side without being cloying.

Look: Poured from can into tulip glass. Didn’t get much head out of those one (probably operator error). Close to chocolate black as expected for a stout. Not even a ring. However, this is thick and viscous and leaves a blanket on the glass when sipped.

Aroma: Chocolate, maple syrup, black licorice/treacle. Leather. You can smell the sweetness.

Taste: Better than the look. Tastes like dark chocolate milk with maple syrup to me. A little bit sweet but I like that.

Feel: Thick and viscous. It coats the tongue. There is a little tingle of carbonation.

Overall: This is a pleasant pastry stout overall.

Nice and dark and viscous in the glass. A nice half inch head that didn't last all that long. Poured into a tulip, cellar temp. Smell was coffee, chocolate and a little maple. Taste was more coffee with the sweetness of a little maple. Very enjoyable from start to finish. Bought as a single but worthy as a 4-pack if I can find it. A. good balance of stout and adjunct.

16oz can pours thick and creamy and opaque into a pub nonic; dense body, fairly viscous, with a dark mocha head that fizzes a lot but actually retains fairly well...straight-up chocolate maple coffee on the nose, rich and decadent. The taste is more chocolate milk than anything else, with minor notes of coffee/mocha and caramel drizzle, cream. That maple character is consistent throughout; the roast and coffee only cut through the sweetness a marginal amount. Fairly subdued alcohol presence for 13% abv. Rich and sweet, not cloying but a good one to share IMO. Definitely leans into that pastry-stout category. Really good.

Black, hardly any signs of carbonation.

Smells like cake. Not looking forward to the taste.

Icing, maple syrup, powdered sugar. This is, for me, in the territory of "Not beer" mainly because zero bite/bitterness and alcohol presence. Has that artificial quality, IMO.

Plenty of heft and density.

Appearance: Arrives espresso colored with a one finger tan head; good retention and squiggles of lacing

Smell: Maple syrup and dark chocolate with a berry-influenced coffee tone

Taste: Maple syrup forward with chocolate and caramel underneath; berry flavored coffee emerges along with a touch of balancing bitterness; the finish brings back the coffee, chocolate and maple flavors

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and creamy with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: This collab beer does a great job showing off the maple and coffee tones
