Drank from a one pint can purchased from Twelve Percent Beer Project, North Haven, CT

Thanks to my sister Vanessa for grabbing me a four pack of this.
The beer poured an oily and viscous, near pitch black and was topped by a fluffy, finger-tall, mocha colored crown that quickly dropped to a lasting dollop of froth. Pin-sized dots of lacing stuck along the glass.
The nose was outstanding. Coconut came through big time. Loads of maple too. Big mocha presence as well. Heavily creamed and sugared coffee and milk chocolate notes were quite apparent. Good dose of marshmallow and vanilla too. Touch of spice character, but I doubt I would pick out the cinnamon without prior knowledge of the beer’s ingredients.
The flavor profile followed the nose. Super rich, malty, and sweet. Roasted and caramel malt notes came through strong up front. Coconut appeared as the beer moved along the palate. Bit of maple too. Mocha notes were again quite prominent. Loads of creamed and sweetened coffee and milk chocolate. Touch of spice. More roasted malts and coffee on the back end and the finish. Hint of bitterness. Some booziness was also noticeable, but the alcohol was very well hidden given the beer’s high abv. There was a hint of oxidation initially too, but this dissipated as the beer opened up.
Outstanding rich, viscous, full bodied mouthfeel. Super creamy, slick and smooth on the palate. The liquid contained a fine, moderate effervescence that fluffed up beautifully. After a few sips, the sugars in the beer left a sticky film on my lips.
Backyard Brawl is a fantastic, rich, sweet and complex pastry stout that is best enjoyed in smaller quantities. I really hope that someday they release a barrel-aged version of this.

Pours pitch black. Quite oily and thick. Nose is sweet syrup and coffee. Taste follows suit with an onslaught of flavors, everything on the can comes through nicely finishing a spicy cinnamon. Overall, excellent dessert stout.
