Foxtown has been pushing its beer to bottle shops and taprooms over the past couple year after being mostly restricted to the own brewpub. But this isn't a typical brewpub. Look around, the appointments around look very clean inside and out; even the bathrooms look like a great place to spend time. At times I feel that I am underdressed when I walk inside. In warmer weather, the patio gets crowded. The bar is incredibly spacious, while behind is the brewhouse and taps pouring beer.

For a brewpub, they make a lot of different beer. Over my visits, the tap list will see some stay and see some go. Over 20 tap of Foxtown beer to choose, and it looks recently that they are focusing more on lagers. I counted ten different lagers, and some of them go into lesser known territory like a Canadian lager or Czech amber lager. At times, they will feature Barrel Aged BeerS (BABS) of their imperial stout or barleywine. Their beers are very agreeable; pleasing to drink with a chance that you'll take home a six-pack.

Food is usually a step above as well. A little more pricey, but the extra quality is there.

Stopped by the first week they were open and it is obvious the brewery needs to work out some of the kinks. Vibe is amazing with original 1857 brewery refurbished nicely with original exposed beams that even had the original tree bark still extant!! Original lagering caves will open for tours starting January. Quality of beer was decent and there was a good selection of IPAs, oatmeal stout, hefeweiss, pale ale, pils, amber, helles, and grisette. Where the business really struggled was in the service and food. Server appeared to be very, very green and it took nearly 15 minutes just to have our water brought after we asked for it. At one point my wife still had food on her plate and was (literally) eating and the server asked if he could take her plate!! Did they run out of plates and need them in the kitchen?? I'll cut the kid some slack but you'd think the owners/managers would have provided some training to 'green' employees. Food was below average and nothing really special; I had a veggie gyro (a bit lean on substance) and my wife had a burger (well-done, and not anything special). We'll be back to try it again in the next several months and we're hoping they'll be marked improvements.
