On draught at Alias Brew Works. Served in a cylindrical glass. It pours a dense, turbid, attractive pastel orange color with a big, creamy, bright white cap and thick, clinging lacing. The nose is big and bright with lemon, grapefruit, melon, and soft floral hops. The taste is much more tart and bitter than I anticipated with big notes of lemon peel and grapefruit rind over a firm, crackery malt base. I'm not tasting the expected peach, melon, and stone fruit. There is strong, clean bitterness throughout and a touch of hop burn at the finish. This ale is medium-bodied with pleasant carbonation and it's very drinkable considering the 8.4% ABV. Overall, Fringe Class is an excellent DIPA although it's missing the balancing sweetness that would make it top shelf.
