An Imperial Sour is not yet a category choice, but here goes. A pint can is emptied entirely into a clear glass liter mug. A nice just slightly tinted off-white head was produced by the pour. There's a definite aroma of sour berries and a vague woodiness to inhale, but it's modest. The color of the liquid is dark, dull and very opaque apricot-amber. It's only mildly sour to taste, but it is pleasantly tart. The blackberry isn't pronounced, but there's enough there for a taste layer. Otherwise, it drinks like a mildly sour fruited ale, with a healthy tartness. There's a little woodiness to taste, as predicted by the nose and enough of the bite of a sour to make it acceptable to those that appreciate this style. The 7.5% ABV is remarkably hidden. For its style and amount of alcohol it delivers, the mouthfeel is extraordinary. This gives just enough pucker, just enough flavor and a body that's full, yet goes down as easily as water. Although there's no glass lacing to study, it's a very nice find.
