Lichtenhainer.
Messenger of Dawn is a collaboration with Escarpment Laboratories that we aged in Tequila Barrels. This is the third historic German style sour that we have released. This Lichtenhainer showcases a level of restraint on the smoked flavours that allow for balance and nuance.
Lemon drop candies, mild smoke, stone fruit and background notes of tequila. Messenger of Dawn drinks like a Mezcal cocktail. Bone dry, moderate levels of acidity with a light body and tingly carbonation. Enjoy at 4ÂșC after storing upright and cold for 24 hours alongside some smokey BBQ.

Thanks to Coronaeus for this one, from NBS BIF #12.5-Secret Santa. 500ml bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a very pale, light yellow color (imagine the color of a dark champagne) with over an inch of fluffy white head that quickly dissipated and left no lacing.
There was a sharp tartness at the front of the nose (sort of a vinegary fruity-ness), with hints of barrel. The tequila aspect came in later.
On the tongue, the tequila came across much bolder. In addition to the tequila and wood, there was a very pleasant smokiness, and that lingered at the back of the palate.
The body was light, crisp, carried good carb, and had a very dry finish.
Drinkability was very good, each sip left me wanting another.
Overall, a very, very nice beer. A must-try if you see it.
