had this beer with dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Beer came in a pint glass cold and filled to the top. this of course means very minimal surface layer of eggshell white creamy head. This foam is gone after the first sip.
The aroma is mild with some toasted grain and toffee, no hop balance and no booze on the nose either. Definitely a malt forward brew.
The first sip reveals a medium body and soft carbonation. The texture is a little chewy actually and the beer feels a little heavier than I would expect.
Flavor is very malt forward with toffee and caramel up front and a little toasted grain. I feel that this is a little heavy on the toffee, but it isnt bad, definitely on the sweet side. I dont find any hop balance here and this beer drinks very easy. No hints of alcohol. The beer is a fine example of the style, but also isnt the best Marzen Ive had in the past several weeks.
