Beer #4 in the KALEA Canada Beer Advent Calendar. Served cool into a pint glass. Thanks Kevin and Nicole.
Appearance - Hazy, rich golden colored brew with three fingers of light and fluffy white head. Great staying power and lots of visible effervescence.
Smell - Some banana and clove, with and odd soured milk / sour cream note mixed in there. Not a whole lot else, some generic wheaty aromas kicking around in the background.
Taste - Banana, clove, bits of other spices, sour cream and wheat. The strange dairy funkiness is really throwing me off, otherwise quite serviceable.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, good carbonation with rich wheaty qualities. Feel is spot on for a good hefe.
Overall - Polarizing beer for me, look and the feel are just in line but the taste and especially the nose have an odd sour cream quality about them. Could be my taste buds and nostrils, but given the prevalence of the characteristic, methinks its a character within the beer itself. Disappointing as far as hefe's go, but still a 1 up on beer #3, but not as good as #1 and #2.
