Not a widely distributed beer yet, but It's sure to come. Easily recognizable from its green, standard-shaped bottle and a cheesy Atari designed lable that is equipped with an image of a body builder on a motorcycle... inspiration obviously comes from a 1984 high school yearbook. "Substance is Everything!"
The beer pours a dark brown color with some translucence, a thin and short-lived head, and no lacing. A pretty dull looking beer after a minute or so.
Aromas of sweet sugars, coffee grounds, wood, nuts, and toffee rise quickly. None of these attribues seem to be woven into any sturdy malt matrix. Somewhat over sweetened and artificial.
Flavors confirm the nose. Sugary sweetness is everywhere and in soda-pop fashion. Milk sugars and other sweeteners lack structure with a flemsy malt base. Caramel and toffee taste exists but the richer, breadier tastes are lacking. Chocolate, tree bark, and weak motel coffee intermingle without organization.
The body probably falters the most. Sweet, sweet, and more sweetness lingers on the surfaces of the mouth with the overly timid malt textures, roundness, or viscocity.
No real complexities, over-simplifies sweetness, and lack of substance leaves this beer deep into the shadows of Mackesson's and Lion's Stouts.
Thanks Ken.
