Collaboration with Toppling Goliath led to lurid lupulin decisions to add more and more and more hops, until our fermenter simply had enough and clogged itself. Literally. A quadruple-dosing of specially selected Citra, Strata, Sabro, and Riwaka gives this Hazer Lazer huge notes of tropical citrus fruit and berry-forward cannabis, reminding you of pleasant mornings waking up in the sun.

This is the first beer I’ve had from Lua Brewing. Collaboration with Toppling Goliath. Purchased from Tavour in a 16.9 fl oz bottle that does not denote a bottled on date.
Look: Pours a greenish yellow with two fingers of foam. A really pleasing beer to behold. There were a few small specks of floaties swirling around the glass, but nothing that took away from the rating and really more a reminder to me that they were only noticed upon close inspection. This is a triple dry-hopped beer, after all. As I progress toward the bottom of the glass, a moderate amount of lacing is left behind. I like the visual appeal of lacing, so this beer gets some kudos in that regard.
Smell: Citrus nose with melon sweetness. Definitely a complex array of scents, but simultaneously not over-powering. I think this beer will surprise me a little.
Taste: It does! It’s a well-balanced riwaka hop laden brew that makes way for a subtly sweet finish that reminds me of sweet oranges or tangerines. There’s a bit of honeydew melon to the flavor profile as well. This a beer that really lends itself a hot summer day, I feel, despite its 8,7% ABV. It’s not something you’ll want to crush, as you’ll lose out on the nuanced flavor profile.
Feel: Nice and smooth. The alcohol content is masked behind the suppleness of the citrus and melon, and the beer’s drinkability lends it to being favorable for social settings, though I can’t imagine that’ll happen much outside of Iowa, or much even in Iowa for that matter. It’s got a lush mouthfeel with hardly any fizz, so it goes down easily and without noteworthiness,
Overall: This was a tasty brew from a new-to-me brewery. The subtlety yet complex flavor profile of this beer kept it interesting from start to finish, while the colorful blend of hops and fruity nose lent well to the visual and odorous appeal.

500ml bottle from Tavour. Orange colored body, small fizzy head. Aroma features a hint of citrus along with some floral notes. Fruity, citrusy taste focusing on the tangy, spritzy flavors of citrus peel. Zesty, dry.

TG collaboration. Big bottle poured into pint glass in Riverside. I’ve been drinking so many balanced beers that this was overly thick.
