Like with the other Destroyers, the hue is a deep, dark, rusty brown. Very little noticeable carbonation, and a relatively low viscosity appearance.
The nose is rich and sweet, characterized by caramel truffles, stewed fruit, & maple bourbon. On the back-end there’s a touch of cola and vanilla bean.
The palate mirrors a lot of the same great qualities as the nose; there’s a touch of bitterness imparted by notes of burnt sugar and charred oak. Contrasting nicely is more of a prominent of maple richness accompanied by milk chocolate and fruit cake.
The palate is coating albeit a touch thin, however really thickens nicely with temperature. This Maple
bourbon variant lingers with only a hint of bitterness to accompany distinct and familiar barrel heat.

Appearance: Arrives pitch black with a beige film that fades to a collar; shards linger
Smell: Maple, Bourbon, chocolate and caramel tones
Taste: Maple and caramel forward with the chocolate developing underneath; big Bourbon presence in the mid-palate with a semi-sweet finish; boozy
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to medium carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: This is a really interesting barleywine and puts this brewery on my radar
