Poured from a howler from Alberta Beer Exchange.
Appearance - Pours a pale gold with a finger of bubbly white head.
Smell - spicy earthy, leafy, and floral hops, pepper, clove, coriander, fruity esters of apple and pear, and bready malts.
Taste - mild spicy earthy, leafy, and floral hops upfront. The pepper, clove, coriander, and fruity esters of apple and pear are also quite mild. The brew is finished off by the bready malts.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes off-dry with all ingredients lightly lingering.
Overall - For this newest Cowtown brewery this offering was a bold attempt at a style that is very difficult to nail. The flavours and aromas were there, it just needs some more oomph. Otherwise, still a respectable Belgian strong.
