Acorn Brewing

I visted Acorn a couple days ago while exploring the south end. The place has kind of a “dad’s rec room” vibe with a small bar and long picnic tables. Very DIY, but welcoming. Service is pretty friendly, and I think the server behind the bar is one of the owners, and so is very knowledgeable about the beer.

They had 10 beers on tap when I was there, with 2 always-on and 8 rotating. Always on are the hazy IPA and red ale, with rotators including another IPA, light lager, imperial red, pale, brown, winter ale, cream ale, and a barrel-aged wee heavy. I was impressed with the quality of the hazy IPA, and while the light lager was not perfect, it was a damn sight better than macro varieties of the style. The place is definitely worth checking out.

Brewpub in small commercial building along the main drag a few miles off the freeway. Very much a locals hangout,where everyone seemed to know each other. Small L-shaped bar to the right of the entrance that seats 4 on one side and is service on the other, with some communal tables about the room. A dozen beers on tap. Friendly bartender.
