A: Pours a dark ruby red color. A two finger beige head forms with good retention and some lace left behind.
S: Dough like malts, yeast and dark fruits. Cherries, plums, and raisins. Plenty of sweetness and even chocolate. A very nice malty aroma.
T: Like the nose, doughy malts yeast and esters. Dark fruits of cherries and plums all intermingled with a chocolate flavor. Plenty of sweetness but not cloying in any way. Very nice.
M/O: A big full body. Well carbonation, but ultra smooth and silky. A warming and great sipper. Really enjoying this interpretation of the style.
I'm impressed that they can pull off what seems a pretty authentic example of the style. Many American version I have of a Quad or Belgian Strong Dark Ale fall very short. This is not only enjoyable and on point for the style but very moreish. I even got a bottle to take home. Well done.
