Bardic Brewing

a neat new spot out in the valley, both a brewery and cidery, a husband and wife time if i understand it right, she does the cider, he does the beer. its a quaint space, very family room or living room feel to it, you can tell its new, but its cozy and well appointed, no frills really, some table seating around and a very small bar area with just a handful of seats and a chalkboard menu. the beers are all old world types, english, scottish, belgian, that sort of thing, and they only had a handful of them on when i was in. i had time to try a strong esb type, and a simple belgian strong ale with quite a bit of sweetness to it, neither one of which was anything special, but not particularly amateurish either, just a little safe maybe. i like the mission to make this kind of beer, i hope they stick with it. the cider looked good too, but i didnt get into it. not a lot of folks in these parts tackling this sort of thing, so i think they have some room to run, hopefully they get it right. its a not that easy to spot strip mall location, so that could be working against them, but the folks were super nice and the vibe was welcoming and good. i believe this is just a taproom space, and that they are brewing just down the street where there is no public space, so this serves as home base. well worth checking out when in the area, especially if this type of beer appeals to you. i had a good time here, and will check back in when they have had a little more time to get their feet beneath them. off to a good start it seems...
