Twisted Gingers Brewing Company "Jovial Monk"
$14 / 32 fl. oz. crowler
Look: Slightly hazy amber body beneath a creamy head of white. Better than average head retention and lacing.
Smell: Primarily malty with secondary notes of dark skinned fruits, brown sugar, apple, and a touch of spiciness and clove.
Taste: Honeyish malt with more fruitiness and spice than the aroma suggests, including additional notes of banana, plum, raisin, a hint of cherry, and ginger. It's also a touch woody. Balanced with a drying finish.
Feel: Medium-full in body and gently crisp then smooth with a fine-bubbled carbonation. Smooth and creamy.
Overall: Quite nice! It delivers all-around, and strays a bit from the most common examples of the style. Worth trying, but keep in mind that at 9% it's dangerously drinkable.
