Twisted Gingers Brewing Co. "Masks Optional"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$15 from the brewery on 4 June 2022
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy light-golden body beneath a thumb's width of bright white foam. Hundreds of bubbles can be seen streaming quickly upwards within. The aroma is hoppy with grassiness and pine, and some background tropical and orchard fruits. The flavor follows. The malt is basic, and perhaps grassy (Pilsner malt?) but that may be from the hops - and it's well threaded through with notes of apple, orange, papaya, soft mango, and pine. The hop flavors are not as strong as the aroma suggests except for the pine which lingers steadily in the dry and bitter finish. It's interesting that it doesn't seem that bitter while the malt crosses your tongue but then it hits you at the finish. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp. At 4.5% abv it's not exactly a light beer but it's lighter than some pale ales. The head held up remarkably well and I still have a complete surface covering of creamy foam. The lacing rises up around that lake of foam like mountains in the distance with clouds in the sky above. I personally find it to be a little too bitter for the amount of malt that's there, and it's like a session IPA in that sense but otherwise it's a solid, hoppy pale ale that's a little lighter in alcohol making it a good choice for hot summer days.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
