Twisted Gingers Brewing Co. "It's An Irish Tan"
$4 / 8 oz. on tap at the brewery on 8 March 2023

Look: A clear, dark chestnut brown body at around 16 SRM rests gently beneath a short head of khaki colored foam. It displays a very good head retention with some nice lacing. It's a good looking glass of beer.
Smell: Grainy malt that's caramelish with a hint of brown sugar and some modest yeasty fruitiness that's mainly like apple but with a hint of dark berries as well.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with some added malt character that's clearly from roasted barley although I'm not exactly sure how to put that into words as it doesn't come across as roasty at all - this is how an Irish red ale should be. It's moderately bitter but balanced, and it finishes dry with just a hint of caramel and some tea like character lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied with a gently crisp carbonation. Lightly bristling and then smooth across the palate.
Overall: I was actually somewhat surprised at how well this beer encompasses the Irish red ale style, particulary given its higher alcohol content as most are below 5%. It's perfectly balanced all-around, and nicely polished as well. It's neither excessive nor lacking, and it has enough character to keep it interesting beyond one or two making it a great drinker.
