A: The beer is brown when viewed from afar; when held up to the light it is relatively clear brownish red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that left a narrow beige collar around the edge of the glass and lots of specks of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of dark malts and brown bread are present in the nose along with notes of juniper berries.
T: The taste follows the smell but has stronger flavors of the dark malts, brown bread, and juniper berries, the latter of which prominently stands out in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting hybrid between a sahti and a bock and the taste does a good job at balancing the flavors of the brown bread/malts with those of the juniper berries, although if I had to classify it into one particular style it would a bock because those characteristics are slightly more dominant.
