Trailhead took their Red Ale and dressed it up for the evening for those that want more kick in their ale. The Winter Ale pour is exactly like the Red – deep ruby/amber color with a nice foamy head. Has a malty aroma, and the hop bite is much more noticeable – in the aroma and the taste. Much more mouth tingle and something else – pumpkin spice? But not overpowering – still very smooth and drinkable for the long haul. Since it’s a winter seasonal, it won’t be around for long – a shame as this one is a step up from the very quaffable Red Ale.
