Served this American Pale Wheat Ale at the brewery, on tap, in a pint glass. This ale pours a cloudy yellow color. It produced a thin white head, and had very poor head retention. Aroma was not very good- only slight traces of pale wheat malt, honey and yeast. I almost strained a nostril trying to pick this up. The taste of this beer is smooth and crisp. The taste was not much more pronounced then the aroma was. Slight traces of yeast, sweet malt and ever so slight amount of honey.

Pours a cloudy, yellow/golden color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, pale malt, and very slight honey. Fits the style of an American Pale Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, pale malt, slight sweet malt, slight citrus, and slight honey. Overall, the body is a little watery and the honey is almost non-existent.

Sample at the brewpub: Trailhead’s seasonal selection pours a hazy yellow color with a thin white head that is gone pretty quickly. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. The aroma is sweet honey with a touch of sweet malt. Light-bodied and sweet with flavors of honey and wheat, and also with an odd malt vinegar taste. The finish is sweet honey with more vinegar. Overall this was passable at first but the vinegar character really interfered with enjoying the beer more.

I understand Trailhead changed brewers appx. 6 months ago – and I believe the beers are better because of it. I’m really looking forward to the seasonals now.

And this new one is a good example of better beer at Trailhead. Started off with a unfiltered cloudy lemon yellow with a frothy white head – pretty good lacing too.

Malty wheats in the aroma and taste. Also noted lemon and banana undertones mixed in and riding besides the malt backbone.

Medium boded, fairly rich and tangy, finishes with a sweet nut kick. Solid wheat and it was a great session brew.
