I had this June 2013 at Trailhead, although the listed ABV was 5%, more appropriate for a pilsner than the listed 7%. It was overall an excellent pilsner.

Gold, it has a small white head soon thinning to foamy ring & wisps, some lace.

Aroma was sourdough bread, some herb and grass - good, solid pilsner character but not complex.

Taste was great, and the real strength. It had nice firm herbal and grassy bitterness, juicy, with bready juicy sweetness and a nice spritziness. It had a firm, lingering bready aftertaste with nicely clingy bitterness to balance it out.

Pours a clear, gold color. 1/5 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of citrus (lemon), pale hops, pale malt, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of a German Pilsner. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. There is also a slightly dry mouth feel. Tastes of hops, sweet malt, pale malt, hint of citrus, and a hint of metallic. Overall, a rather decent pilsner, above average for Trailhead.

Trailhead took a “boring” pilsner, and kicked it up a notch with a brew leaning towards the hoppy side.

I, and most everyone in my lil’ group, really liked this take on a Pilsner style. The taste was still smooth and wheaty up-front, but the finish had a nice hop kick. Slightly dry and astringent, a bit of a wood vine aspect to it.

Nice appearance; amber orange pour, white head and small sheet laces in the glass. Thumbs up to this “pilsner pale ale”.
