As our inaugural barrel-aged release, Richard holds a special place in our history, but this year's edition breaks new ground with its first-ever rye barrel aging. Richard proudly launched our coveted Single Barrel Series—featuring individually selected barrels that showcase unique characteristics impossible to replicate. Each limited release from this series captures a singular moment in time. Complex, starting with bold bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, and espresso transitions into spicy character from the rye whiskey and chocolate rye malt. Mid palate layers of toffee, molasses, and dark fruit. The rye influence contributes distinctive warming spice notes that complement the stout's robust and silky character.
Aged for 14 months in a Still 630 Rally Point Rye barrel.

Near black pour, opaque; thin yet dense and lasting light tan head, rich and creamy. Huge nose with milk chocolate, vanilla; dark malt sweetness. Incredible taste; milk chocolate; vanilla; slowly emerging whiskey undertone; mild spiciness. Dense and silky mouthfeel; slippery and viscous; subdued boozy warmth.
This is another fine example of exquisite barrel aging technique. By that, I mean that the barrel aging doesn't dominate things but, instead, gently integrates itself into the entire beer experience. Balance. That is what we have here. In one huge and delightful imperial stout. Fine, fine stuff.
